Turner, Robert E (Ted), 63 , self made man.
Media mogul.
Net Worth: $3.8 billion.
Home State: Georgia.
Marital Status: divorced, 8 children.

Birth Date: Nov 19, 1938
Ranked in 2002 as the worlds 97 th. richest man in the world.
He is one of the world's most successful businessmen.
Among his achievements are the founding of CNN, CNNfn, TBS,
TNT, Cartoon Network, the former owner of the Atlanta Braves,
Atlanta Hawks, Atlanta Thrashers, WCW, donated a then record
$1 billion to the United Nations, and married Hollywood star
Jane Fonda. By the way, he also won the most prestigious yachting
event, America's Cup in 1977. And these are only his most public
achievements.
Turner has always done things his own way. He set an independent
course early in his career, betting big on himself and taking
daring gambles that have not always succeeded. Known as "The
Mouth of the South" and "Captain Outrageous" for
his notorious volubility and singular opinions, Turner built
a communications empire from his father’s over-stretched
billboard business and is now creatively engaged in giving away
the fortune he earned from it. "Few Americans," wrote
Newsweek, "have cut such a swath through life."
After all he has accomplished in the last 20 years, it's scary
to think what he could have done if he was still young. He was
a born salesman and entrepreneur, who has rarely failed in life
and even when he did, he picked himself up and learned from the
experience.
Businessmen have a well deserved reputation for being among
the most dry and boring people in the world, yet Ted Turner seems
like Jim Carrey's lost brother sometimes. Turner managed to make
insulting comments regarding Catholics, the Pope, Pollacks, Jews,
immigrants, and he even asked Rupert Murdoch -- founder of News
Corp, owner of Fox and Sky Networks -- to enter a boxing ring
with him.
Among the things Ted Turner has been criticized for is calling
the Ten Commandments "out of date", especially the
item on adultery. Ted Turner settled down a few years ago with
Jane Fonda, a move that helped subdue the rumors of his womanizing.
They are now separated.
Turner is currently the largest individual shareholder in
AOL Time Warner as a result of the merger between Time Warner
and his Turner Company a few years back, before Time Warner
merged again with AOL. Turner, the vice chairman of the company,
owns 148.4 million shares, or 3.6 percent of shares outstanding,
according to the company's March proxy statement, although
the company has reported that he has sold more than 10 million
shares since that filing. The last year has been a though one for Turner. As a large
AOL Time Warners shareholder he has reason to scream. AOL
stock fell nearly 75% in value, slicing $5 billion from his
worth. But if we know Turner he's not the kind of guy that
gives up, he will keep on fighting.
"I would say that anything that is indeent and violent
in TV is a crime against humanity and they should shoot the head
man responsible."
- Ted Turner.
"If I sold all my liabilities, I wouldn't own anything.
My ife's a liability, my kids are liabilities, and I haven't
sold them."
- Ted Turner, on selling off his money losing
properties.
